Security Officer

Function
Full time, including weekends: 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs rounds throughout the property both inside and outside of historic, multi-story buildings spread over 16 acres.
- Provides security patrol in museums.
- Learns and operates complex electronic alarm and video monitoring equipment.
- Provides support and assistance to staff and visitors as required.
- Supports special events as required.
- Performs administrative duties as related to shift assignments.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position, including but not limited to the ability to cover assigned rounds on a campus with multi-level historic buildings and sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be flexible, with the availability to cover other shifts as needed. Good communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with the public, and good telephone manner required. Ability to communicate in English essential. Must be able to work collegially in a team environment. Security experience highly desirable (preferably in a museum or library setting).
Compensation
Starting salary low- to mid-20s, depending on experience. 40-hour work week. Excellent benefits, including medical, dental and retirement plans and free parking or commuting subsidy.
