Alston H. Chase

Chase, Alston Hurd, 1906-

Alston Hurd Chase taught Classics at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, a private boarding academy founded in 1778. Chase chaired the Classics Department, teaching Greek and Latin. During his years at Andover, he authored several Greek and Latin text books and a translation of Homer's Illiad. After his retirement in 1972, Chase worked on his memoirs, Time Remembered. The book was published in 1994, just a few months after his death.

At Dumbarton Oaks, Chase consulted on the Greek inscription for the Beatrix Farrand dedication plaque.
