Chronica Botanica Co.

Chronica Botanica Co., was founded in Leyden, The Netherlands in September 1933. The company moved to the United States in early 1940 locating in Waltham, Massachusetts. The company, directed by Dr. Frans Verdoorn, was known for having a unique collection of source material in the history of botany and horticulture and the publisher of Chronica Botanica. In 1948, Beatrix Farrand ordered a two volume set of books to be sent to Anne Sweeney at Dumbarton Oaks, Washington, D.C. for the Garden Library.
