Gillum, Vernal N.

As a young man, Vernal N. Gillum moved from Missouri to live with his sister and brother-in-law in California. Gillum worked as a tree surgeon, and he opened his own practice on La Cumbre Road in Santa Barbara. During his years in the business, Vernal Gillum provided tree work for both business and residential clients, including Casa Dorinda in the 1940s and the estate of Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling in 1965.
