Description

Letter is a response to Beatrix Farrand's letter of August 23, 1944 (B:BF 1944.08.23). Discusses Mildred Bliss' available days in autumn if Beatrix Farrand is to visit Dumbarton Oaks. Mildred Bliss enclosed Mr. Van Rensselaer's request for funding pamphlet for the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden being sent for Beatrix Farrand's review. The pamphlet was either returned with Beatrix Farrand's comments to Mr. Van Rensselaer or back to Mrs. Bliss to forward on to Mr. Van Rensselaer. The pamphlet is not in the collection.

Mentions the planting of vegetables, probably in the Kitchen Gardens, and whether Mr. Bryce should do so as he would like to turn the space into a nursery. Mrs. Bliss is in favor of a garden to provide food for the Scholars and Fellows.

Letter typed on Mrs. Bliss' letterhead.

Handwritten signature in pencil.

Carbon copy also in Collection.

Title created by cataloger.
