Description

Drawing unsigned, unknown creator.

Plant list and corresponding planting plan are undated, probably created between 1952-1974 during the period that the Dumbarton Oaks Garden Advisory Committee existed and efforts were made to document the gardens.

The Dumbarton Oaks Cultural Landscape Report, September 2002 describes the present day "Cocky-Locky" space as not matching "the exact location of Beatrix Farrand's original Cocky-Locky." "There is no known historical planting plan for this previously unnamed area, but the Plant Book does describe what was there in the mid-1940s." "The Dumbarton Oaks Garden Library has a circa 1960 existing conditions plan of Cocky-Locky that was either done by a summer fellow, or may have been made by Garden Advisory Committee member Leon Zach ...." Chapter V.4.
