Dumbarton Oaks Garden closed to the public from July 10, 2017, to March 15, 2018

At Dumbarton Oaks, we are committed to preserving and maintaining our historic gardens and collections to the highest standards, while incorporating technological improvements that will ensure their good repair and longevity. We are just finishing a yearlong renovation of the museum, which will reopen in late April.

The time has now come to undertake large-scale improvements to the garden’s water-supply network, which dates to the gardens’ original creation in the 1920s. We are therefore obliged to close the garden to the public from July 10, 2017, to March 15, 2018. We will take this opportunity to enhance storm-water management throughout the property, in keeping with our commitment to sustainability and the environment.

Passes for the full 2018 season are now available. See here for more information.

For further inquiries, please write to press@doaks.org. We would be happy to put local media in touch with garden staff who can speak about the upcoming work in the garden in greater detail.
