Royall Tyler to Mildred Barnes Bliss, May 2, 1934

Finance Ministry

I hardly dare announce my visit to you, dearest Mildred, for fear that a jealous fate will interfere again—but I will venture to say that I hope to sail about the 17e or 19e of this month, and would like to come to you immediately after arrival.

I’ll wire when I know my sailing date.

Will it come off this time?On May 15, 1934, the Blisses received the following telegram from William Royall Tyler: “Royall arriving Tuesday twenty second Stop. Spending two days New York then going Washington. Bill.” Tyler Papers.

Yrs always

R. T.
