Dear Robert.

Many thanks for your wire, which I was very glad to get with its reassuring news.Mildred Bliss had become been very ill with pneumonia in Prague sometime in mid-February 1936. See Edith Wharton to Beatrix Jones Farrand, April 4, 1936, Edith Wharton Collection, Yale Collection of American Literature, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University. I hope to hear more and still better soon at Pest, whither I return tonight.

I enjoyed our few days together immensely.Robert Woods Bliss visited Elisina and Royall Tyler in Budapest and, apparently, Bliss and Royall Tyler traveled together to Vienna. See letter of February 28, 1936.

Much love to Mildred, please, and love to the ButlersJoshua Butler Wright (1877–1939), an American diplomat who served as the U.S. envoy to Hungary between 1927 and 1930. His wife was Harriet Wright, née Sutherland.
