Description
Evliya Çelebi (Seyahatnâmesi, 1:135b) describes this place as follows: It is a valley between a large hill and a green river which is adorned with plane trees, weeping willow, mastic trees, walnut trees, and cypresses. The hymns and chants of the birds—chaffinch, blackbird, finch, nightingale, tits, etc.—draw travelers to the site, and lovers converse at this location, which is an old recreation place.
