Description

Evliya Çelebi (Seyahatnâmesi, 1:104a) describes the tomb of Sultan Ahmed I (1609–1617), who was buried in a tomb akin to a paradise garden, within his own mosque overlooking the Hippodrome. The mosque is the “Blue Mosque” in Istanbul, built between 1609 and 1616.
