Notes

WEST.VAT.1.56 has only pages 1-91r and 97r.

Vaticanus palatinus græcus 63.  291 folios.  Paper.  15th-16th centuries: finished on the 18th of October of some year.  Philosophical works by Proclus (TLG 4036.007, 4036.001), Ælian (4017.001), Syrianus (4017.001).

Scribes according to Πίνακες, which cites the Repertorium der Griechischen Kopisten, are Demetrius Damilas (RGK 1.93, 2.127) and Zacharias Calliergi (RKG 1.119, 2.156, 3.197). The latter is in Vogel & Gardthausen (pp. 125sq; see our Bibliography and Online Resources) but not this manuscript. See Barker, ch. 5 and passim.

1r-91r  Procli Diadochi commentarius in Platonis Alcibiadem priorem (TLG 4036.007).

97r  Syriani, Philoxeni fili, comentarius in Aristotelis Metaphysicorum librum II (TLG 4017.001).

In our film WEST.VAT.1.64 is a page tacked on to the end, folio 21 from perhaps not the main manuscript of the film (Vat. Palat. gr. 63), which includes scholia on 103A (Καὶ ὅτι οἱ μὲν ἄλλοι δι’ ὄχλου ἐγένοντό σοι διαλεγόμενοι, ἐγὼ δὲ τοσούτων ἐτῶν οὐδὲ προσεῖπον.) Incipiunt comentarii (non pagina), «Δύο ταῦτα στοιχεῖα διαφερόντως εἶναί φασιν οἱ τῶν λόγων ἀκριβέστεροι...»   Pagina incipit «τοὺς θείους διακόσμους καὶ πᾶσιν ἐπιλάμπει τὴν πρὸς τὸ νοητὸν ἕνωσιν...» (In Alcibiadem, ed. Westerink §52) et desinit « φρουρητικὸν τῆς τοῦ νεανίσκου ζωῆς ἱκανῶς ἡμῖν παρέστησεν [Westerink παρέστησε], τὸ δέ γε παρόντα» (§54).
