Notes

Original box:

Bodleian Library. Manuscript. Holkham Gr. 82.
ff. 285r-288v. In Festum Angelorum.

WMSS 842

Perhaps the final label is for "West Manuscripts"? Elsewhere on the box, the label "Sf. W. 3074", in what does not look like Westerink's writing, is struck through.

Film begins with 284v (see Manuscript Description).

First frame: "Photographic Order No. WM. 11038."

Second frame: "...The Librarian would also be glad to be informed of any work done by scholars on this microfilm. He makes this request because he wishes to possess for the use of scholars full information as possible concerning work on the manuscripts in his care."

Perhaps a flaw in processing: the film has small, gray drops that give an appearance as when water has dried. We attempted some very gentle cleaning with a non-abrasive wipe, but this did not lift them. They do not impair legibility and are not noticeable during projection.

Writing in the manuscript sometimes reaches deep into the gutter (ex. gr. 64v-65r, 78v-81r). This gets crowded a bit in photographing, but the researcher should be able to make most everything out. Even the worst pages (as 80r-81r) should at the very least be able to confirm or challenge existing editions.

The film is altogether a very good one.
