This film documents the conservation and restoration work carried out by the Byzantine Institute at Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. It shows Thomas Whittemore and the fieldworkers cleaning and restoring the north tympanum lunette mosaic of Saint John Chrysostom. It also illustrates the mosaic before and after cleaning, as well as a life-size color reproduction being made of the lunette with Saint Ignatios Theophoros.
