This photograph is of folio 296 verso of Ms. Athos Iviron 1, dating to the eleventh century. This manuscript illumination was used as a model for the depiction of the central group of figures in the scene of the Transfiguration in the northern dome of the Holy Apostles (see here). A preliminary sketch by Paul Underwood appears here.
