Cf. Wassiliou-Seibt, Siegel mit metrischen Legenden I, no. 619 (confusing 1947.2.1423 with 1947.2.1422); also listed in vol. II, no. 2404.

Translation

σφραγὶς γραφῶν τε κρίσεων Εύθυμίου.

Seal of the writings and legal decisions of Euthymios.

Commentary

Wassiliou-Seibt recorded two metrical inscriptions on this seal, the first being a circular inscription along the circumference of the obverse; but our specimen shows no such inscription (or any trace of one). Another seal of Euthymios, however, presents the same inscription on the reverse and has an invocation in verse to the Mother of God on the obverse (cf. 1947.2.1422).

We may assume from the reference to judgments (κρίσεων) in the reverse inscription that Euthymios was a judicial official.
