Commentary
Laurent read the reverse of the parallel seal as σοῦ τοῦ, and thus read the seal as simply of Nikephoros the skeuophylax, but the parallel makes it clear that it is τὸν τοῦ, and thus we are dealing with a relation--likely a nephew or even a son--of the skeuophylax. He did not connect this seal, which he read correctly in his unpublished catalogue of the Shaw collection, with BZS.1958.106.78. Moreover, Laurent dates this seal to the 12th century but its parallel to the 10th/11. We have retained the published date of the other seal.
