Commentary
The owner’s name was never imprinted on the lead. The owner of the present seal held an “imperial” title (such as protospatharios, spatharokandidatos, spatharios, etc.) and was inscribed in the group of the officials constituting the honorary guard of the palace of the Lausiakos, called oikeiakoi (see N. Oikonomides, in TM 12 [1994] 486-488).
