Commentary

Wassiliou-Seibt identifies this Leo Nikerites as the eunuch and general of Alexios Komnenos who held a number of high-ranking positions between 1090 and the early twelfth century. See also PBW : Leon 15008.

The engraver appears to have made an error in the first line of the obverse where the letter Ρ is rendered as Γ.
