Εὐθυμήῳ ἀρχιεπησκόπῳ Παρέου

Translation

Θεοτόκε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Εὐθυμήῳ ἀρχιεπησκόπῳ Παρέου.

Mother of God, help your servant Euthymios archbishop of Pareon.

Commentary

Laurent suggests that the form Παρέου should be explained either as an engraver's error or as a result of the vocalism that interchanges iota with epsilon (Psaltes, Grammatik, 24-28).

Parion (modern Kemer on the Hellespont) was initially a suffragan bishopric of Kyzikos (represented at the Council of Nicaea in 325); by 640 it was an archbishopric and appears as such in all notitiae until the thirteenth century. Before 1261 it was united to the metropolis of Pegai. See Laurent, Corpus V/1, 641.
