Commander-in-chief, preserve your (servant) John ..., judge ...

Commentary

Letters left by a previous strike are visible along the circumference.

The letters ΑΠΡ are visible at the beginning of the fifth line, perhaps introducing a placename. Of the family name with which the inscription ends no trace remains.
