Translation

Εὐγενιώτου Βάρδα τὰς γραφὰς κύρου τὸ κῦρος ἡ φέρουσα κἀξεπωνύμου.

Authenticate the letters of Bardas Eugeniotes, you who wield the authority of the one named.

Commentary

Wassiliou-Seibt notes the use of metonymy in this inscription. The verb κυρόω echoes the noun τὸ κῦρος and makes it clear that "the one named" is the Theotokos Kyriotissa, even though the epithet does not accompany the image of the Theotokos on the obverse.
