Ἰωάννου μητροπολίτου.

(Seal of) the metropolitan John.

Commentary

Although the inscription makes no mention of Chalcedon, the representation of St. Euphemia on the obverse and the owner's rank of metropolitan guarantee that he governed the church of Chalcedon. As Laurent notes, he may be the John who attended the councils of 681 and 692.
