Laurent, Corpus V/1, no. 453; Oikonomides, Dated Seals, no. 66. Zacos (Seals II, no. 816) published a similar seal from a different boulloterion. Another specimen, also from a different boulloterion than the DO and Zacos specimens, was published by Dölger, Schatzkammern, no. 120/1 (and republished in Prôtaton, no. 6, and in Dated Seals, no. 66).

Translation

Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Γρηγορίῳ ἀρχιεπισκόπῳ Θεσσαλονήκης.

Lord, help your servant Gregory archbishop of Thessalonica.

Commentary

Only one prelate named Gregory occupied the throne before the fourteenth century (Gouillard, Synodikon, 114; cf. Catalogus codicum astrologorum graecorum 8/3 [1912] 44). The Protaton specimen is still attached to the document that it was intended to authenticate, dated 2 August 943.
