Commentary
Laurent was inclined to assign ownership of this specimen to a correspondent of metropolitan Leo of Synnada (Darrouzès, Épistoliers, 185) and to date the seal to the first decade of the eleventh century, in any case before 1028 when Michael received the title of synkellos (Skylitzes, 375).
