Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Νικολάο.

Lord, help your servant Nicholas.

Commentary

The traces of lettering outside the border on the left side of the reverse suggest that the original seal was re-used. The second strike pressed the channel flat, indicating in turn that the specimen was meant to serve as a token rather than as a seal.

Note the odd division of words at the end of the second and third lines.
