Commentary

Where comparable, the iconography and lettering of this specimen resemble what we find on BZS.1955.1.4374, but the poor state of this seal prevents confirmation that it is from the same boulloterion. Zacos-Veglery misread the indiction number and dated the specimen in 720/21. John hypatos is well attested as kommerkiarios from 720/21 to 730/31 (Zacos-Veglery, 160, table 14).
