David Doran was employed in the nursery department of Joseph Breck & Sons, a wholesaler and retail company located in Boston, Massachusetts specializing in seed, flowers and agricultural tools. He sent a signed letter written on company stationary dated December 6, 1946 to Isabelle M. Stover, Beatrix Farrand's secretary, notifying her which roses the company could supply.
