Description

Letter to the Dumbarton Oaks Garden Advisory Committee members, Michael Rapuano, Robert Patterson, Bradford Williams, Leon Zach and the Dumbarton Oaks Director, John Thacher discussing two enclosed blackline prints for the reconstruction of the Camellia Garden (96-03, revised 1-13-[19]59) and the completion of the new planting of the Ellipse (96-07, revised 1-15-[19]59). G. Morris Steinbraker & Son of Georgetown provided an estimate of $3,365.00 to complete the work, but it did not include rearrangement of Camillia plants, additional planting of bulbs, ground cover and evergreens. Alden Hopkin's planting plan for the Ellipse includes hollies, dogwoods, hornbeam hedge, and spring bulbs in the ivy ground color.

Handsigned in ink.
