Description
Typewritten letter from Anne Sweeney responding to a letter and agenda sent to her by Beatrix Farrand, September 26, 1945. Anne Sweeney looks forward to Beatrix Farrand's upcoming visit and responds to the agenda items addressing book accounts, purchases, postcards, plant record book (Beatrix Farrand's plant book for Dumbarton Oaks) and leaflet. She mentions her discussion with John Thacher and possible future plans for the Orangery.
The gardens will open for the Autumn season on October 10, 1945 and "remain open as long as the weather permits." Anne Sweeney is expecting a "big crowd" as the Chrysanthemums are in full bloom. She mentions it has been very wet which has benefitted the pyracantha, but the dogwoods and the magnolia buds are not as vivid.
Pencilled in upper right corner: October 3/45.
Letter is a copy of original. Original letter and enclosed agenda are lacking in collection.
Copy unsigned, probably created by Anne Sweeney based on letter sent to her by Beatrix Farrand discussing the same topics, B:BF 1945.10.12.
