Description

Typewritten letter informs Anne Sweeney, she will hold off purchasing the 5 volume set of books, Ladies flower garden by Mrs. Jane Loudon until permission is received from Mildred Bliss even though the price is very reasonable. Beatrix Farrand asks Anne Sweeney to follow up on this and the purchase of John Guille Millais' book, Rhododendrons [in which is set forth an account of all species of the genus Rhododendron (including azaleas) and the various hybrids] with Mildred Bliss.

Beatrix Farrand responds to Anne Sweeney's questions about subscribing to Garden Illlustrated and purchasing a book on evergreens. She reports the purchase of Marcel Fouquier's book, De l'art des Jardins du XVe au XXe siècleJohn Evelyn's book, Sylva and The violets of North America [by Ezra Brainard] from Eric Lundgren (bookseller).
