Description

Letter sent with a copy of a letter sent to Beatrix Farrand from E.D. Merrill, dated September 8, 1944 suggesting a book on grasses and mosses and for Anne Sweeney to contact Mrs. Agnes Chase, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. as she is the leading authority on grasses in the United States.

E.D. Merrill states that mosses are difficult to identify, so he also suggests that Anne Sweeney "prepare small packets of such mosses as she may find at Dumbarton Oaks and send these to Dr. A.J. Grout, Newfane, Vermont or Dr. E.B. Bartram, Bushkill, Bucks County, Pennsylvania."

Handwritten signature in black ink.
