Typewritten letter discusses John Thacher's appreciation of Beatrix Farrand's circumstances leading to retirement and her resignation as Consulting Landscape Gardener at Dumbarton Oaks. She asks to delay the business end of the retirement agreement. Beatrix Farrand mentions the inability to travel to Dumbarton Oaks this Spring and explains why she continues as Consulting Landscape Gardener at the Arnold Arboretum. Lastly she offers support for Anne Sweeney in her position at Dumbarton Oaks.
On Beatrix Farrand's Reef Point, Bar Harbor, Maine letterhead with the address crossed through and replaced with the Valley Club of Monecito, Santa Barbara, California.
Handwritten signature, perhaps not that of Beatrix Farrand, but her secretary, Isabelle M. Stover, who typed and signed letter on her behalf. Isabelle M. Stover is at Reef Point.
Postscript indicates a letter is being sent to Mildred Bliss tomorrow.
