Description

Typewritten letter acknowledges receipt of a telegram from Mildred Bliss and discusses a time they can talk by telephone the weekend of May 28, 1948.

Beatrix Farrand reports the purchase of a collection of plans, working drawings and accompanying letters on gardens designed by the English landscape architect, Gertrude Jekyll from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society which Jekyll's nephew gave to the Royal Horticultural Society as his contribution toward their Red Cross sale fund. The collection is "practically the entire inventory of her work" and will be housed, indexed, and cared for at Reef Point, Bar Harbor, Maine.

Mentions the continued buying of books for Dumbarton Oaks unless asked to halt.

Beatrix Farrand warns Mildred Bliss that a request for donation to the Friends of the Arnold Arboretum will be forthcoming.
