Description

Typewritten letter discussing plants to be thinned or replaced, new paths and stairs to construct, and a proposed redesign for the Herbaceous Border hedges. Beatrix Farrand offers a suggestion for steps to replace the dangerous Goat Trail. Letter mentions the first publication of the Reef Point Gardens bulletin.

Beatrix Farrand reports that the plant record book [Beatrix Farrand's Plant Book for Dumbarton Oaks] will be ready soon. The main part of the work is done; it awaits correction. Robert Patterson will bring it to Washington, D.C. when he goes next which is October 15-16, 1946.

Written on Beatrix Farrand's, Reef Point, Bar Harbor, Maine letterhead with handwritten corrections in ink. Also includes pencil notations of check marks and question marks perhaps by Mildred Bliss once she received letter. Letter marked as received, [October] 3 [1946].
