Description
Note thanking Mildred Bliss for the garden visit and the opportunity to speak with her about her gardens. Helen Van Pelt Wilson mentions missing the outdoor theater, probably referring to the Lovers' Lane Pool outdoor theater and that Margaret Henderson Bailie, one of Beatrix Farrand's design assistants, is going to advise her on her own gardens.
At top of note, Sunday, August 19. Correspondence written no earlier than 1959, based on a letter, Alden Hopkins sent to Mildred Bliss about Helen Van Pelt Wilson, F1:Hopkins 1959.03.31. In that letter, he introduced Helen Van Pelt Wilson as an author desiring to write an article on the Dumbarton Oaks Gardens for Flower Grower magazine. Correspondence written no later than 1969, the year of Mildred Bliss' death. The year may be 1962 as August 19 falls on a Sunday in that year.
