Description
Letter discusses Mildred Bliss has decided not to purchase the Isaac de Caus' Wilton Garden from the Rosenbach Company. She bases this decision on Beatrix Farrand's and Caroline Shillaber's opinion that it is a poor copy of the title due to the tipped-in pages. She is going to write Percy Lawler regarding her disappointment of the offering. She intends to consider all copies of rare books to build up the Garden Library at Dumbarton Oaks and wants Beatrix Farrand to try to purchase the Redoute titles.
Mildred Bliss looks forward to Beatrix Farrand's report on Anne Sweeney's visit to Reef Point.
Mildred Bliss is visiting the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden to hear a talk by Reid Moran on his visit to Baja, California. She compliments Mr. Sellar Bullard, Mr. Stuart Wing, and Mr. Van Rensselaer for the atmosphere at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden which she assesses as being "charged with energy, eagerness, congeniality, and ambition."
Copy of letter written from the El Mirasol Hotel, Santa Barbara, California.
