Description
Mock-up based on Beatrix Farrand's drawings for the bookcase panel and inscription created between 1934-1935, GD P-3-25A, GD P-3-25B, and GD P-3-24A.
Panel inscription dedicated to Gelasio B.A. Caetani, the Italian ambassador to the United States from 1922 to 1925, who was a close friend of the Blisses. The text is a quotation of lines 139-141 of Canto XXVIII of Dante's Purgatorio.
Mock-up of panel probably created 1935 based on the date of architectural drawings for the panel, bookcase, and inscription.
Photographer unidentified.
Photograph undated, taken approximately 1935 because it shows the mock-up, not a finished panel.
Typewritten label on verso: Arbor Terrace, paper mock-up of panel w/ Italian inscription.
Title created by cataloger.
