Description

Ruth Havey suggested the Provençal fountain, previously in the Copse garden area, be placed in the Ellipse around 1967. The hornbeam hedge was placed by Alden Hopkins in the late 1950s.

Photograph created and included in publication, The Dumbarton Oaks Gardens : Their History, Design, and Ornaments by Ursula Pariser published in 1978.

Photograph undated, probably created between 1976 and 1978, publication in book.
