Written in ink vertically, "The Fox and the Crane" refers to the Aesop's fable. This fable is also known as The Fox and the Stork. The finials labeled "Town Mouse" and "Country Mouse" are characters taken from the Aesop's fable, The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.
