E. P. Charlton & Company was a chain of five and ten cents stores, first established in 1890, owned by Earl Perry Charlton (1863–1930); the stores merged with several associated brands to create the F. W. Woolworth Company in 1912. In 1905, Charlton opened a store in San Francisco, which was destroyed by the earthquake of 1906. The store was rebuilt on Market Street.
