The Sonora News Company was formed by the American photographer Charles B. Waite (1861–1929) in 1896 and had its headquarters at Calle de Gante 4 in Mexico City. The company had several novelty and art and antiquities shops in and near the Hotel Iturbide. The company also produced and/or sold newspapers, magazines, postcards, guidebooks, and souvenirs, some of which were manufactured in the United States.
