Royall Tyler to Mildred Barnes Bliss, August 11, 1928

Burlington Hotel. W1.
11.VIII.28Saturday.

Dearest Mildred, I’ve seen all the carpets hereThe Victoria and Albert Museum; see letter of August 7, 1928. again, and even the finest of them (there is one marvel) is muck beside the Sanguszko. I also showed the photograph of the Sanguszko to Eric, who agreed that it was out of sight finer than any other he had ever seen. It’s in a different class.

I keep at you like this, at the risk of your cursing me, because I fear there are many, or at any rate, several people who would go for the Sanguszko if they got a chance—and because I feel no doubt that we shall never again see such a portentous work of art for sale.

Just off to spend a week end with Edith, and then Antigny.

Love to you—
R. T.
