From the minaret of Fenari İsa Mosque (Lips Monastery), Artamonoff captured the domes of the building and a panoramic view of the bostan located east of the mosque/church. This is an outstanding photograph of the market gardens located along the Lykos/Bayrampaşa stream, which divided the city into two parts: the six hills north of the stream and the seventh south of it. Most of these market gardens disappeared after the construction of Vatan Boulevard over the stream in the 1950s.
Three women can be seen harvesting vegetables in the upper-right corner of this photograph.
