Images in this collection record not only the market gardens within the city walls but also orchards and agricultural fields in suburban Istanbul. This photograph below shows the agricultural land in the valley of Dolmabahçe before it was transformed into a park as well as a major intersection of roads connecting the northern suburbs with the city.
