Notes

Contents: Many works by Michael Psellus.

The first few folios are a table of contents in Latin, added in over the Greek text.  A note on f. 2v by a previous owner says the book is the property of Arsenios of Monemvasia.  The text properly begins on f. 4r.

f.27v: difficult to read due to bad photography.

As of August 2011, Pinakes lists many of the authors but the entry is problematic in that it is incomplete and seems to neglect Psellus altogether (which Pinakes often does).  Gardthausen’s catalogue is much more detailed and useful in this regard and lists all the works with title and incipit, please see the internet resources for the link (Google books) or the bibliography for the reference.

For high-quality digital images of the entire ms., please see the University of Heidelberg link under the electronic resources.

Microfilm WEST.HEI.1.2 must be declared a dud because folios 49r-52v are photographed on single pages, all the recto sides first followed by the verso sides.  This makes it rather impractical to use.  The foliation is also sometimes difficult to make out.  Readers are advised to use WEST.HEI.1.1 or for an even better quality image, the digitalized ms. from the University of Heidelberg's website (see internet resources).

HEI.1.4 is a complete copy.
