WEST.MAD.2.14

Madrid, El Escorial, ms. 301 (y.i.8)

Manuscript Pages

Additional Information

  • Acquired: donated by the estate of L.G. Westerink
  • Film: 35mm Black-and-white Negative

Notes

Westerink’s box:

Negative
Escor. Υ.III.17
Fol. 23r-122v
Aphorismi c. Comm. Anon.

There is no mention on the box of Scorialensis y.I.8, but, despite both the above and what follows (a letter from Prof. Westerink to an unnamed recipient, included as an image on the film), the film contains only y.I.8, and not Υ.III.17 [Andrés no. 287]), for which see WEST.MAD.2.15. We don’t know what the numbers after the shelfmarks in the letter refer to.

Reverend Father,
Could you please help me to microfilms (negative, verso-recto) of two Greek manuscripts of the Aphorisms of Hippocrates with commentaries:
y.I.8 (298) fol. 1r-82r;
Υ.III.17 (284) fol. 23r-122r.
Thanking you very much in advance, I am,
Sincerely yours,
[signed and typed]: L.G. Westerink

Film contains “Folio 0” referred to in the ms. description. A clear and very beautiful film of a beautiful manuscript.
