Brown calf on pasteboard, tooled in gold and in blind, with painted black details. The book was originally sewn on five single bands, and the pastedowns and endpapers are speckled red. The binding is decorated with interlace (entrelac) pattern, as well as with anthemion and fleuron motifs. These details suggest that the binding is originally French, either sixteenth or seventeenth century. The elaborate clasps and catches may have been added at a later date. There is no remaining textblock.
