Monnoyer engraved the illustrated title page, after Jan Goeree (1670-1731). It depicts a procession of classical figures placing a floral tribute at the feet of Nature, who is identified by the words on the pedestal against which she leans, Rerum magistra (Mistress of all things). The heavily decorated border, clearly reminiscent of tapestry designs, is comprised of entwined plants, flowers, fruit, and gardening implements, along with medallions of a seemingly classical theme.
