Translation

Πόθου, μάκαρ, σφράγιζε πράξης καὶ λόγους.

Blessèd one, seal the acts and correspondence of Pothos.

Commentary

Wassiliou-Seibt read the first word of the inscription as Ἄπρου, equating it with the bishopric in Thrace, but in our view the correct reading is the name Pothos. This does not alter the fact that the inscription is a twelve-syllable verse.
